  • Your new book “If You Lead” uses Kipling’s classic poem “If—” to describe a leadership framework based on sixteen essential attributes that all leaders must have. Tell me about what the poem means to you and what motivated you to write the book.

How did your experience running your own consulting companies and working for organizations like Verizon, Capital one among others shape your thinking about leadership?
  • You say that “Everywhere we look we see crisis and failure – financial crisis, corporate failures, and political scandals.  Leadership failure is at the heart of all these breakdowns“. What are some of the common mistakes leaders make when dealing with challenges?

    This is a really great interview. One thing that I have learned about leadership when managing projects is to always set proper expectations up front. Missing this step only leads to dealing with more problems down the road.
